As we engage in this national crisis, we believe it is important for us as a church to open our eyes to those in our community who are most affected by current events.
In order to do that, we are suspending the normal operations of our church food pantry and shifting to an emergency food distribution setup that should enable us to help more people and allow more of our church family to be involved.
Who can receive help?
For now, our plan is to provide assistance to families in need within our own congregation, families in need at nearby Hagemann Elementary School, and others requesting emergency food assistance as supplies allow.
If your family is in need, please contact our office. All persons needing assistance should contact the church office at 314-843-3500 Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm to set up an appointment.
How can you help?
Our immediate need is for food donations. (For now, our staff will take care of distribution to minimize the amount of social contact involved.) No matter what type of food items you may have donated in the past, we would like everyone to shift to the following plan for now:
Last name and items to bring
ABC — canned soups, stews, chili
DEF — pasta, pasta sauce, rice
GHI — cereal, protein bars
JKL — canned fruit, juices
MNO — canned meats
PQR — canned vegetables
STU — peanut butter, jelly
VWXYZ — bread, crackers, snacks
Please do not donate any perishable items, items in glass packaging, or expired or nearly-expired items.
When and where can you donate?
We will receive donations Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm. All food donations should be left at our back door (W.E.E. School entrance).
Leave donations outside the door, and we will bring them inside after you leave. To help make sure we receive your donations, please do not leave items outside of these designated drop-off times.
If you prefer to make a monetary donation, you can do that online or by check. Be sure to select the General Fund and write “FOOD” in the memo line when giving online. When giving by check, write “FOOD” in the memo line. Checks should be made payable to Concord Church.
Thank you so much for helping us love our neighbors in this very practical way as we walk out this challenging new season together!
