Jonah is Running from God

Main Passage: Jonah 1:1-16

Main Thought:

Jonah is confronted with the experience of coram deo- living life in the all-seeing presence of God. This prophet’s story teaches us of the tough lessons about running from God and the surprising ways God responds our rebellion.

1. God speaks. (debar yhwh) (1:1)

2. God will often send us to challenging places. (1:2)

3. God shows how you cannot run from his presence.

    (1:1-8)

4. God brings consequences for our disobedience.

    (1:4, 7-12)

You are running toward the righteousness of God or the rebellion of God, but you are never running from the rule of God.
