Deacon Brad Slinkard

My salvation experience was 15 years old. I was at a church lock-in on Halloween in 1986. I had listened to a man who was a drug dealer who carried 10’s of 1000’s of dollars on him, and he met a man who shared the gospel. Over time he was picked apart by the Holy Spirit until he gave in. That was the story that helped me understand that I needed Jesus, and on Nov 2, 1986, I went forward and accepted Christ.

I have a wife named Beth, Four kids (Brittani, Blake, Bryce, and Braedon). We are a very charismatic family with all kinds of personalities. Brittani is a teacher, like me, and Blake is still searching for what he wants to do. Bryce will be graduating in the Spring of 2022. Braedon is the youngest and our year-round baseball player.

Beth and I have been at Concord since 1994. We enjoy the friendships we’ve continued to share over 28 years of being here.

What interests me about this role is I enjoy the accountability you can have with the other men of the deacon team. It also helps deepen your faith more when together.

One important Bible verse for me is John 14:26

26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.

One strength I feel I bring to the Deacon team is mediation. I can mediate when there may be disagreements to help find a common resolution.
