Steve Lanemann

My salvation experience is I was baptized by immersion when I was 12 but honestly can’t recall what led to that decision. Fast forward about 30 years, Laura and I were at a marriage conference in Branson with friends from Concord, and during one of the sessions I hit me hard that Christ wasn’t the center of our marriage or our lives. We stood up at at the conference and publicly gave our marriage up to Christ and have worked hard at keeping our focus solidly on Him ever since.

I I’ve been married to my wife, Laura, for 22 years. We’ve been together for 33, having met when we both worked at DIerbergs in 1989. We have 2 kids, Matt (18) and Katie (14), Matt is graduating from Affton High School this May and will be pursuing a career in FIrefighting/Paramedicine. Katie is finishing up her freshman year of high school, and has discovered a love cheerleading. Our favorite thing to do as a family is camping, and Laura and I are treasuring all of those moments more and more as the kids are getting older now.

We’ve been at Concord about 11 years. What we love most about it is the sense of family and the sense of ownership we have because of the opportunities we’ve been given. Every member of our family has found a place here. And while Concord has been thru a lot of ups and downs during our time here, but there’s always been a sense of hope and a strong belief that Christ would get our church family thru whatever was going on.

What interests me about this role is I’m a helper and I feel that I’m at my best when given the opportunity to fill that role. Being a Deacon would give me a chance to connect with and serve more of our Concord family.

One important Bible verse for me is

Philippians 1:4-6

In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

One strength I feel I bring to the deacon team is I try to lead with kindness and acceptance no matter who’s in front of me. I’m just a guy trying to lead myself, my family, and others to Christ.
